Ramzy Ajem was born and raised in Toronto Canada and is of Tunisian descent. He began his journey in Islamic studies in Damascus, Syria, in the mid-1990s where obtained an Honours Diploma from the Abu-Nour Islamic Institute in 1997. Ramzy furthered his education through private studies under the scholars of the Levant, including luminaries like Shaykh Adurahman al-Shaghouri, Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi, Shaykh Abdulhadi Kharsa, Shaykh Nur al-din Ittir, Shaykh Muhammad Al-Shuqayr, Shaykh Adib Kallas, Shaykh Usama Rifa'i, Shaykh Abdul Mu`iz al-Nafti, and Shaykh Muhammad Kaylash (may Allah reward them all and have mercy on those who have left this world). In Damascus, he received authorizations in Hadith compilations from Sayidi Shaykh Muhammad Abul Huda al-Yaqoubi, a pivotal moment in his journey.
Ramzy continued his studies in Morocco at the Madrasa al-Hajj al-Habib of Tanalt, led by Shaykh al-Haj Muhammad al-Ghali, a prominent disciple of the school's founder, Shaykh Muhammad al-Habib al-Susi. Furthering his academic pursuits, he attended the University of Qarawiyyin in 2001, studying under renowned scholars in Jurisprudence, Tafseer, Theology, Logic, and Tasawwuf. His mentors included Shaykh Abdallah el-Haddad al-Idrisi al-Hasani, Shaykh Abul-Hayy Al`Amrawi, Shaykh Makki bin Kiran and Shaykh Mustafa ibn Muhammad al-Najjar al-Tijani –may Allah reward them all and have mercy on those who have left this world.
Currently, Ramzy Ajem serves the Greater Toronto Area community as an orator, lecturer, instructor, and counsellor. He is the Executive Director of Risalah Foundation, overseeing community projects like Masjid Vaughan, Muslim Family Academy, Dar al-Burhan, and the Network of Reintegration and Muslim Mentorship (NORMM).
